Alice, what do you think kindergarten will be like?

So I thought I would lighten things up a bit.

Last night I asked Alice, "What do you think kindergarten will be like?"

"I won't have to take naps," Alice said. "I'll get to do more art projects. The teachers will probably read more books to us. And I really hope that I learn how to properly take care of a goldfish."

  1. I dunno, the Goldfish mortality rate in kindergarten is fairly shocking.

  2. i have not even really talked about K with my guys since i have no answer to "what school do we go to?"

at the gym, some other parents asked my boys which kindergarten they were going to next year and they said... "we don't know. mama likes to try every kindergarten. she goes to all of them every day."

    yep. 30 schools total boys!

  3. My daughter loves preschool but is dreading kindergarten because, she says, "The parents take a really long time to pick up the kids. I think it is afternoon or night time when they go home."

Can you tell her preschool program is part time?

  4. There will be tears by some the first morning at separation. Less tears the 2nd day and by the 2nd week most kids wont look back. Kindergarten at a good school is wonderful - what's there not to like? I'm sure MCDS has a great K program.
You might be more stressed going to the first class cocktail party in October.

  5. Maybe she'll learn not to split infinitives too...

  6. Maybe others here will learn that an ellipsis at the end of a sentence with no sentence following should be followed by a period (for a total of four dots).

Definitely the case, although the Tuesday after Labor Day can be a little difficult.

  8. i just woke up and i had MY first bad kindergarten dream last night. their school was 12:45-5pm with no snack, they did worksheets all day, all ages were together and mine were scared. i raced home and called their preschool teacher to get some names of privates she thought would be a good fit, but no spaces left.

ahh. the stress of the bullying stories, the private vs public debate, the budget cuts, the waiting...

  9. How many of you feel confident that you'll be happy with your Round II results? The letters will be arriving on Monday, won't they?

  10. Question about round 2...

I got a letter saying that they could not offer me my waitpool choice, which was Miraloma. The letter didn't say anything about the other seven choices. Does that mean I didn't get one of my seven choices for round 2 either? I thought that I had a somewhat good chance at getting one of those. Maybe that letter comes separate? Does anyone know how it works?
